Al Final. Su Memoria.

Acousmatic work for quadraphonic system
6:40 min
2023

Exhibited at the Chic By Accident Gallery within the framework of Mexico City’s Art Week 2022 in a collective exhibition entitled NEOMAYA.

In collaboration with the Chic by Accident gallery, Sound + invited five Mexican artists to re-contextualize the symphonic poem "Sensemayá" by Silvestre Revueltas, which is based on the same name poem by Nicolas Guillen. The exercise consisted of re-composing, shaping, and spatializing in a quadraphonic system the sound objects created from an original recording of Revueltas' piece.

Al Final. Su Memoria samples the performance of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Fernando Lozano (1980) and intervenes it through analog processes to build a soundscape in which textures, rhythms and timelines collide.

A story within a story enveloped in noise.

The needle walks through the grooves where the interpretation of an idea took shape.

An idea takes on new meanings shaped by time, culture and technology.

Historic memories of ideas exposed by Guillén y Revueltas.

Memories are restructured in the glitch.
