abrir lo mirado

acousmatic installation for quadraphonic system and soil
13:23 min looped
2022

Time perception is linked to the way we listen. Abrir lo Mirado is a piece that inhabits on the subtleties and explores the thresholds of perception following the question: How do we perceive time when is guided by sound within an apparently static space?

The installation consisted on the intervention of a car which was parked at different points of NYC over the course of a month, the car’s floor was covered in soil and an automated lightbox was programed to increase and decrease its intensity throughout eleven minutes on repeat while a looped quadraphonic soundscape was being reproduced.

The soundscape was built as a subtle mass, developed upon quiet dynamics and seemingly imperceptible events. Heavily influenced by lowercase, instrumental musique concrète, and acousmatic music; the handcrafted soundscape in Abrir lo Mirado is created by exploring the fragility of micro-sonorities of two electric guitars.

It was created under La Kriego, and exhibited at the Rogue Car Art Gallery on October of 2022 at New York City, in an exhibition curated by Danny Polonsky.
